Drove my brothers AUIII the other day and noticed that u could almost slap the T bar from P to 1st with no effort. their seems to be no firmness in the shifts at all. Also he recons that when he accelerates the T bar moves. Any one know what the problem could be?

yer, if u pull it apart, theres a nylon or plastic same diff, bumpy thing that when u pull the lever it lifts it up over the notches, obviously they are worn flat and u dont need to pull it up out of the notches, i looked in my au once, but mine hadnt got that bad yet, i could change without pulling the lever/trigger whateva u wanna call it, but still had to to get it into neutral and so on.

My shifter moves slightly underload ... and on bumpy roads ... but very slightly .... i still need to click the button in to select R and P ... and the likes ... and it still makes the click sound down into 2nd ... and have to push the button to get back to 1st.
Shifter shake is common though
