the old girl seems to be using fuel..the trip meter reads 18lt and more around town,and thats not driving hard.im also getting a fuel smell in the cabin..not fumes..fuel..the car is idling a bit rough but is still going well....any ideas???

You do know it's normal for a car to use fuel right?
Just try the usuals, reset the ECU etc. Check fuel lines for leaks. Check intake manifold gasket for leaks. Also maybe try swapping ECU's if can get your hands on one. Blocked cat? Could be anything... |

Check hose connections on the carbin canister.Should be located in the left hand wheel arch.Have your injectors tested.Check spark plugs and leads and timing.Check coolant sensor.Try reseting the trip computer.Maybe too the fuel smell is that ethonal if you are using just unleaded the smell has gotten more distinctive,which i have noticed.

check ur o2 sensor....check for any vacuum leaks. sparkies might need replacing, check dizzy
