Hi, just wondering what is worn - I've jacked up the front and tighened the wheel bearings, as there was a bit of vertical play, so thats all good now, but horizontally there is play. Driving normally I can't feel any play at all, but when going over a bump I can feel the front end rattle. Also when going over corrugated gravel roads it is very noticeable.

Someone suggested that the "steering ram" had excess play - would this mean the steering box is worn?

Would my best bet be to take it into pedders for a 30 point check to see what is wrong? (only $14). Has anyone had any experience in changing the steering box, and would an EFII Fairmont steering box fit?

thanks

I've just seen a similar post from shadsky_1 below - I will check ball joints and struts to see if they are worn. If anyone else has any comments please let me know.
thanks!
