Ok my XB has excessive play in the wheel. I mean you will travel straight but you can turn the wheel prolly an inch either way before it affects your path. Im always correcting the car whilst Im driving. Im gonna take it to a mech. to get it looked at , but was wondering if there was something i could do that may ease this problem.
Any advice appreciated.

Sounds like worn tie rod ends, pitman arm and/or loose steering box. Get your front end checked at a suspension workshop and the worn components replaced. The steering box you can just tighten.

Sorry I thought it may have been a manual steering box. I dont think you can adjust the power steering. Problem will almost certainly be in the steering components.

Only let a pro adjust a power steering box or it will fail.

The steering box adjustment can be accessed from insice the drivers guard. You have to loosen the large locking nut and then tighten the allen bolt. dont over tighten as the steering will be stiff. Check the Pitman arm for play along with tie rods and the other joints inbetween the tie rods (forget their name) i used to have a ZJ and the play mainly came from the pitman arm and the steering box. There is also one more adjustment for the input shaft of the steering box but can be accessed in a V8.
