Hi all, i've tried the search but not quite sure what to look for. Just need to know what the sensors are on an EA T5 gearbox. Like theres the speedo but, want to know about the one on top of the hat, and the left hand side. are they both for the reverse light or???

they are for speedo, neutral switch, and reverse lights.

Gearbox facing (bellhousing forwards)... right side is the speedo drive. with a red wire coming off it into a white plug in bit.

on the left at the top at the front is the reverse lights and the ones at the rear on the left is neutral switch.

hope this helps..

Nah, it's the other way round dude - neutral on top, reverse LH side of gear casing.

thanks guys! just out of curiosity, why is there a neutral switch? will a manual falcon not try and start in gear? I've owned a couple of manual falcons over the years but never been stupid enough to start it in gear. (come to think of it I have a million times... with clutch in though...) can anybody elaborate what the neutral sensor is used for? thanks

nuetral switch is there cos in theory when u put the box into gear with your foot on the clutch it'll idle up to ease with take-off and reduce stalling. for the same reason it also prevents stalling on decel.
