Will the above item be a bolt on for a EL XR8 series 2 V8? I have the Explorer manifold so I think the upper manifold will fit straight on. Just not sure about throttle body. Also the Yanks have theirs the opposite way round to us. Anyone able to confirm? |

Yes it will fit. However, those guys don't appear to want to send it overseas because when I last tried contacting them via a general question about shipping costs for that item, they never bothered to answer.

I'll ask them a question and see if I get a reply.
You sure my throttle body will fit it? |

I've a cobra upper/lower bolted on my EF no problem, just had to make a new throttle bracket, and rerun some vacuum hoses.
try these guys, $US50 more, but I know they send to Oz, my third order is on it's way right now. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetai ... toview=sku

The cobra flows basically the same as the explorer so there wouldn't be any advantage with this on a series 2 EL XR, waste of time and money.
And yeah it would be flipped around so the plate would be upside down. |

As I understand them, the Cobra and Explorer manifolds all come from the same GT40 family of intake manifolds - where the lower intake is pretty much well the same but the upper intakes do differ. In general the 93 Cobra intake manifold will flow 10% - 15% more than the Explorer but interestingly enough, if you clean up the lower intake manifold ports then you'll have pretty much well cleaned up the true bottleneck of these manifolds.

what he said ^
the explorer manifold can also be extrude honed for more flow, whereas the tubular cant. no meat to take out.

You may as well spend a little extra and get an edelbrock or trickflow.
They are far superior to any of the ford ones's

apparently runner number 5 is the most restrictive in these lower manifolds

Number 1 and number 5 are the most comprimised...they have to make 2 sharp turns before getting to the cylinder head, where the rest are a relatively straight shot. |
