What would happen if there was too much oil in my engine?
It uses abit of oil and I got sick of topping it up, the last time i did it, it went over the full mark by a few millimeters.

I have noted a large oil patch where there has been leakage all down under the headers down the side of the motor.
Also have noted oil leaking out of sparky #2 when i open the throttle.

Also I have noticed when i cleaned my throttle body out yesterday that there is a thick sludge that could be build up or oil (im guessing the latter) inside the throttle body.

Is this gunna clog up my engine's intake and exhaust or will it eventually burn out the excess oil and be fine ??
Im scared the oil is going to head down my new pacemaker headers and clog up at the bottom or something.... that'd be a good waste of $800.
Havent noticed any black smoke to indicate burning oil, havent smelt anything funky like oil burning on the headers, there just seems to be too much in there.

If too much has been put in you'll blow a hell of a lot of smoke depending on how much was put in.. If too much was put in, drain it out and do it again. Or you could try draining only a little bit at a time..

putting in a little to much like 300 mls wont hurt it. but if some of the seals are on there way out eg sump gasket, rear main, then just that bit extra oil could cause them to leak. as for oil build up in throttle body, small amounts is normall, remembering that all ur blow by pcv goes past there. but if it is really clogging up then yeah clean it out and u might need to change ur oil more offen, and make sure u use the right viscosity grade oil.

how much oil does it use and is it using oil or leaking the oil?

Since i replaced the rocker cover gasket i havent noticed any oil leaking onto the driveway but at the moment (in the last week or so) i have noticed alot of oil coming out from somewhere just under the exhaust manifold... or maybe from there and its leaking down i cant tell.
That'd lead me to believe the car was using the oil instead of burning it.

Also there is alot of oil on top of the rocker cover that wasnt there last week, almost like its spraying out the breather hole or something.

I topped it up one week and 2-3 weeks later noticed the engine oil light was staying on a little longer then normal, when i checked it was back down to almost empty.
Now however I topped it up to just over full expecting it to level itself out and its stayed over full for a week.

Oil hasnt been changed in about 5 months which is a heap of k's, It really needs changing but I dont have the time to do it at the moment.

I couldve put as much as 500ml's or more over the full line, it was taking so long to top up i decided to just put the rest of the bottle in.

If there's too much in the sump, it can actually 'foam' which causes all sorts of problems.

If its only 300ml or so should be o/k..But if uou want to take some oil out just remove filter, drain it and put it back..If you didn't replace filter on recent oil change ? Then fit new one.If you have over filled while topping up? It's due for for oil change? Then change both filter and oil..On the cheap the most it would cost is $20.00 for both...

Its only to much if your crank starts splashing in it, Ford cater to the lowest common denominator, as in dumb a***, my oil always 10mm above mark.
