Please don't yell at me if this has been asked before or I might cry

I searched it and it came up with nothing.... god that search is useless...

Anyways I was wandering how I go about painting the side mirrors, I have an AUI with just the boring black side mirrors, I need to know the following:

1. I know it's better to sand it back before painting but how harsh should the sand paper be?

2. What primer do I use that would work the best, and should I sand each coat of primer back with very fine sandpaper? - How many coats of primer?

3. What type of paint do I use (Evidently I need one that can withstand weather and loose airborn debris) and where can I get it? Local Super Cheap? The colour will obviously need to be matched to my car (Silver) - How many coats of paint?

4. When I have finished painting is it wise to add a coat of gloss? I'm not sure if my car paint job has gloss and I'm weary of adding gloss if it will make the mirrors look different to the rest of the car. - How many coats of gloss?

5. Is it cheaper (or basically the same price) to pay a panel beater to spray them, if so, how much approx?

P.S: It's not funny for one second that I did work experience for 2 months as a car spray painter... all I did was spray, I didn't ask questions...

1200 wet & dry - start with 800 if the surface is marked.
Plastic trim primer - a couple of thin coats.
Spray cans to match car - just take in your paint code from the plate under the bonnet. Will take 1 small can per mirror for full color coverage.
Clear coat to finish.
All the above can be purchased from most autp parts stores.

Unclip the backs of them by pushing the mirror glass to one side, looking behind it and prying off the clips with a screwdriver.. then take them to a panel beater and get them done properly if you don't feel confident..
I had mine done in feb along with the door moulding, looks heaps better imo.
