Can anyone help with these questions?
- I have a set of 17" stock rims from a XF and was wondering if they would fit my car in my gallery. (1963 XL Deluxe) - If the dont fit, is there any way to fit whole front and rear axles with those 17" on my 63 XL??? Thanks Adam Hough

AFAIK All rims on falcons prior to AU are interchangable.

since when did xf's get 17's?
they should fit, though ive heard of a few people trying to fit 12 slotters or something and sometimes they dont work. bung em on and turn the wheel by hand and make sure it clears everything first.

XF's never had a stock 17", biggest rim was 15". Best bet is to try the 17 rims and check all clearences. Also the center hole in the rim is different size for earlier cars, this is what supports the wheel not the studs and nuts, they just stop them from falling off. Measure the ID of the hole with a vernier and then check the OD on the Hub.

If the wheels fit an XF.. they will fit the XL.. you will need to watch clearances for scrubbing though depending on width.

As far as I know, the stud pattern and offset should be perfect, however the cennter bit that sticks out of the hubs, that has the dust cap fitted to it, I thhink is bigger in pre-XF models. And so the back of your wheels, the wholle that goes on thhis may have too be elarged to suit, I may however be wrong...

They wont fit if it has the original XL stud patern.
The XL has a patern with 4 studs. Only the utes and panel vans had 5 studs in the early Falcons from factory. You can put later model front stub axles or rear axles with minimal fuss. You can try and find the early Falcon ute axle / stub axles or even a Chrysler Centura (borg warner diff) rear axle will fit as well. Good to see another early Falcon owner here |

oh and BTW, centura has the same 5 stud patern as falcon. Quite seldom known that the early falcons have 4 stud.
If you want to run a disc brake set up, best to add a brake booster as well. Unless you can find a set of bigger drum brakes / stub axles from an XY base model or something..... good luck with it anyway |
