Hi there, ford pumps don't run bearing's. Its a bush inside the main shaft that pressurizes and allows to spin freely. You dont need any special tools, no wait, only to put the end cap back on, they can be a b**ch without a pair of C clamp vise grips...of even a g-clamp can do the trick, but wouldnt recomend it.
If you cant be bothered, i got a full reco pump here for $80 changeover, or $70 outright. 12 month warranty etc etc. If your bush is knackered, you would be best off getting a 2nd one from wreckers. They are too hard to change. But tell them its for an ea, you will get it cheaper.

yes but if if wants to give it a go at building it himself, then when he takes the pulley(connected to shaft still) he will realise that all he needs to do is swap the pulley(with shaft) over and there you go, you just made a pump skip 3-5 years

Lol it can be hard, but then again, sometimes it's quite easy.
Just remember to clean all parts and the steering system very thoroughly, otherwise it will be a complete waste of time. Also, get very fine sand paper and linish the upper and lower valve plates, rotor and check veins for cracks or scars. Let me know how you go, wether it be good or bad, lol

Hi Mate,
I just listened to it. It's a worn belt causing that noise!!!!!!! Large plastic pulleys and worn rubber belts make noises like that. Take the pwr str cover of (undo fluid resvoir lid and bolt on thermostat housing) and lift off. Now start the car and spray some water or if you have belt grip on the belt near the pulley. The sound should disappear for a couple of secs after you spray it with a bit of water etc. This will prove your belt has gone hard and is worn. CHEERS..............

WHAT????
the actual acc belt making that click/tickering sound?? the sound only comes from the Power steering. The alternator, aircon water pump etc are all quite

yeh mate, its a worn belt.
spray some water on it while running and its a safe bet the noise will stop. some people here would shoot me but.. mine was like that, gave it a 2 sec squirt with wd-40 and it hasnt made the noise in a few months now.
