Hey People.
My brake pads need changing, but I have also found the Rotors (DBA Slotted) are causing my steering to sudder when I brake. Im thinking they need to be Grinded. Now I realize that if they are under 22mm then they cant be done (im yet to measure) But if they are over min thickness, is it a good idea to grind them or is it better to replace the whole rotor?? I dont have that much $$ so If grinding is ok, ill take that route, just want to be sure im doing the right thing before i pay some mechanic to do it.... Cheers, Adam

Machining is fine for them, as you say, if they are within tolerance, i have the same prob with slotteds, vibrates between 80 and 110, but i can live with ti fo rthe time being.

Nothing wrong with machining rotors at all - should be able to do it 2 or 3 times in the life of a disc.
Just make sure when they are done u are still above minimum thickness. And remember the thinner the rotor the easier it will be to warp it again.

Thanks guys.
I was just unsure if it was okay to do this with "Slotted" Rotors. Ive had normal rotors ground before, but not this type. But hey - if it saves some $$ Ill give it a go b4 throwing away more money for new rotors....

Mate I've got DBA golds on the front of my falc and its not a problem getting the ground. Just like a normal disc. Obviously there is the minimum thickness aspect to it.
Cheers, David As an aside, I'd probably go slotted front and back for my next set, the golds look good, but well you know..... |
