Hey peoples, yeah i've had issues with my braking system which is giving me the sh*ts, how should i go about finding the problem? should i spend on just getting the whole system fixed with new front slotted discs as braking at the moment isn't the greatest? any ideas to find the problem please post. thanks

At the moment i have an ABS warning light on, and i tested my abs on a quiet street and yeah i get full lock up.

Take it to a reputable Ford mechanic and get s Scan Tool put on it and find out what Code it is bringing up ... will give you a good idea of what the problem is .. maybe a faulty ABS module.

Have a chat with Joe at Crescent in Liverpool (poor guy is flat chat busy).

He'll be able to tell you what is wrong.

I had the same problem with an AU2 ute - the scan tool came up and said that the LHR wheel sensor was failing. A new ABS wheel sensor from Ford was about $60 and it fixed the problem.

You should be able to go to any good mechanic and they will have a scan tool to plug into it (behind the fuse box cover) - It only took 2 minutes to come up with the code.

Also I'd take all the wheel sensors off (1 by 1) and clean them with an air gun as they are magnetic and attract metal filings from the brake pads/discs. Its either a 7mm or 8mm bolt behind the disc housing.

its 8mm... also note that a fault code wont always mean the componant is at fault. all a wheel speed sensor code is telling u is that "i'm not recieving the expected responce from that sensor" which could be a broken wire or in rare cases the module that controls it. 99% of the time it is the sensor and the only easy ways to test it are with a new sensor, or by doing a resistance check on the wiring

By memory when i worked at the wreckers i was told to never pull out ford ABS units because they dont break. They have been designed sooo well that they just dont f**k up.

Like u guys have said in most cases its probably the sensor. but go get it checked out properly.
