After having some problems with the wiring of the sub i played around with the amp settings and now it doesnt sound no where near as good as it used to. one reason is becasue i dont know what half these settings mean- Mainly mode 4!, so i am going to list them here in hope that someone can tell me what to put it on/ or what they mean. it is an alpine mrd m500 mono block amp running one 12" alpine v12 in series.
setting 1- Input Mode [1ch or 2ch] 2.1- Low Pass Filter [on or off] 2.2- Adjusting Low Pass Filter Frequency from [30-200Hz] 3.1 Subsonic Filter [on or off] 3.2 Adjusting the subsonic filter frequency from [15-50Hz] Mode 4 is what i have really screwed up! 4.1 Parametric Equalizer [on or off] 4.2 Adjusting the parametric equalizer frequency [30- 160 HZ] 4.3 Adjusting the parametric equalizer width range is [0.5/1/2/3/4/5] 4.4 Adjusting the parametric equalizer level goes from [+-12dB] 5.1 Bass compensation [on or off] 6.1 Time correction [on or off] 6.2 Adjusting the time correction delay time [0-10ms] 7.1 Phase [o or 180 degrees] 8.1 Amplifier ID [0 - 9] 8.2 Turn on Delay Setting [0.0 - 2.0s] 9.1 Safe Mode [on or off] I know this seems like alot but i have tried adjusting a million times and i cant get it right! my main concern is all of mode 4 so even if just with mode 4 i can get some help of what it should be it would be great!!! Thanks.

I know this seems like alot but i have tried adjusting a million times and i cant get it right! my main concern is all of mode 4 so even if just with mode 4 i can get some help of what it should be it would be great!!! Thanks. setting 1- Input Mode [1ch or 2ch] - Simply to state whetehr you are using this as a 2 channel amplifier or single channel acting a mon amplifier....for you mode 1-1 i think so it shows 1ch 2.1- Low Pass Filter [on or off] - Since subs are connected you want this set to on - this will cut of the high frequencies trying to be passed to your sub. 2.2- Adjusting Low Pass Filter Frequency from [30-200Hz] If you look in your manual for the sub it will state for ported or sealed enclosure...what is the best frquency for your subs...i can tell you if u give me the model number of the sub....or tell me what alpiony TYPE it is...and what ohm level the coils are so a type r 12" sub with dual 2 ohm coils will be SWR-1222D/ 3.1 Subsonic Filter [on or off] again set to on since a sub is connected. 3.2 Adjusting the subsonic filter frequency from [15-50Hz] - again consult the sub manual for the most appropriate frequency to be set for that sub. Mode 4 is what i have really screwed up! 4.1 Parametric Equalizer [on or off] - turn this off if you feel you have screwed this up.....for subs i wouldnt bother touching this....unless your really know what your doing when it comes to advanced equaliser tuning leave this off. 4.2 Adjusting the parametric equalizer frequency [30- 160 HZ] see 4.1 4.3 Adjusting the parametric equalizer width range is [0.5/1/2/3/4/5] see 4.1 4.4 Adjusting the parametric equalizer level goes from [+-12dB] see 4.1 5.1 Bass compensation [on or off] - leave this off....bass can be set from the HU 6.1 Time correction [on or off] Again like 4.1 ... the system will sound fine if u leave this off....its more important for staging your front stage and rear fill but again a setting for advanced users when u know what your doing. 6.2 Adjusting the time correction delay time [0-10ms] see 6.1 7.1 Phase [o or 180 degrees] This is just to set if your subs are inverted....ie they fire into the enclosure not out of....0 is firing into the boot - 180 is the sub fires into the sub box/enclsure.. 8.1 Amplifier ID [0 - 9] This is for when using an amplifier link device and capable head unit so you can tune individual amps via the hu with the corresponding amp id number....leave this-unless u plan to use it 8.2 Turn on Delay Setting [0.0 - 2.0s] leave this as default...0.0s - this is just to set your sub distancing...just leave this 9.1 Safe Mode [on or off] leave this off....this i think will knock all the gains etc done in case you have set voltages etc too high...and risk damaging the map...this will set the power out put to verly low....

2.2 set to about the middle of the range, 90Hz.
this will send only sub bass to the sub. 3.2 set to the lowest, 15Hz. this will cut out frequencies you can't hear, saving more power for the ones you can. All the others like Kev says... 6.1 set to off. No point using time correction on the sub without the other speakers as well.

For 2.2 id be going even lower the 90hz...yeh this is safe and should only send sub bass frequencies...also for 3.2...the Type R 12" subs are setup ideally for a tuned frequency of 49hz in a sealed 24L enclosure - Vented 42L @ 30hz and if ported 42L @ 30hz with a 7.6cm diameter port and port length of 34cm ...and agree with maximus for 6.1just set it to off.
