If you’re a Ford nut like us, then this may be the chance you’ve always wanted. Yes, I’m serious.

We’ve got big plans to expand the magazine and the Street Fords brand in general, and to do this, we’re looking to hire a Deputy Editor ready to dive in and get his hands dirty.

The job involves many and varied tasks including writing for the mag, management of production flow, creating story concepts, speaking to car owners and clients; it can be pretty much anything you want it to be in reality.

So what are we looking for?

Well, firstly, you have to live in the Sydney metro area or be prepared to move there immediately. Our publisher (Express Publications) is based at Silverwater, near Parramatta, and Street Fords works out of these premises.

Your own transportation is preferred – and you get bonus points for it being reliable and a Ford.

A good working knowledge of Ford product past and present is pretty important, as is an outgoing personality and good social skills (you will be dealing with readers at shows and events after all), so you need self confidence.

You need to be able to show initiative and work to tight deadlines without supervision, be well organized, able to manage your time efficiently and be a team player (magazine production is first and foremost a collaborative effort, so if you can’t play well with others it makes it hard for everyone).

As I said owning a Ford would be a bonus as it always helps to have extra cars to do DIY’s and tech stories on, and a good basic mechanical know-how to go with that would be another plus.

Funnily enough, up to this point I haven’t spoken about the ability to write a story. Of course this is important, and you will have to write a story as part of the selection process if you apply, but good writing can be taught far easier than some of the other skills I’ve mentioned already.

As long as you’re a decent speller (and there are some shocking ones out there) and can string together a conversation without resorting to SMS style abbreviations you could be in with a shot.

If you’re seriously interested, send me an introductory letter (under your real name, not your forum handle) and brief CV marked to The Editor at jr@streetfords.com

from my understanding the editor from street commondoors got the job...expect to see a lot of biased views and comparisons to holdens if it is true.
