Well story is i have an amp running bridged for my sub. I later got another amp so i decided to connect my rear speakers to the new amp. So i wired up the power and the speakers.
On the sub amp its got RCA in and RCA out. I used the out on the sub to the in on the speaker amp. I got it running very well but then when i went to start the car i get this squeal through the amped speakers and when i give the good ol ford a rev and the squeal gets a higher pitch almost so u cant hear. Whats wrong??? Do i need a noise filter?? Cheers

Are your RCA Lead's & power lead running near each other? I remember a mate of mine had this problem & that's what it was, they we're running next to each other..

yeh make sure your rcas and power leads arnet running side by side, this causes interferance, also check your ground, even sand down another point and relocate it.

When i get home i was going to disconnect the sub amp and hook the speaker amp up by its self to see what happened.
My rca's and power leads are running down one side of the car. Is it going to cause that much interfearance?

yeh although my first install i did in my xf i had them down the same side, everyone on here said move the rcas to the other side, otherwise problems like this will occour.

I thought RCA's were shielded.

The original amp running the sub didnt have any problems so its whats been done after that. Is the RCA lead running to the new amp ok (try using the RCA straight from the HU) if the problem is still there i would be looking into the new amp itself also check all speaker cables are not shorted to the chassis and power connections all ok.

Depends on how much u spend on rca's whether they are sheilded properly or not. Cheaper ones dont sheild that well and the ends pull out of em to let interference in... And keep your rcas away from any other wiring in the floorpan. Safest way to have no squeals. Havent u got a 2nd rca lead to run to the 2nd amp??? Or does your headunit only have one set of rca outputs???? Cuz if your running rcas to the amp for sub and they r sub outputs its only under 80hz ish that goes to the amp.

Deck only has one set of RCA's out.
Im going to connect the speaker amp up by its self to see what happens. If it keeps up i have some other RCA's ill run to see what happens. If that fixes it ill move the rca leads to the other side.

yeh try that and see if it works....
Cheap RCAs obviously wont shield out interference like more expensive ones will but also the dearer ones have the catch 22 where becuase they are far better quality are more susceptible to picking up interference and thus why the better shielding technology is required. If you rev the car and this squal get louder...then your RCAs are being induced to engine noise...the distortion is coming from the whine of the alternator and is a common prob most ppl find when doin there own installs that havent had alot of exposure.

Ill have to try other rca's to rule out the RCA's.
Just interested if there is a noise filter i can use to stop it?
