last weekend a mate took his stock ef falcon in for a wheel alignment, he went to pick it up to find that the plastic pcv had droped down in the motor taking out the timing chain causing bent valves and stuff. anyways he picked up a xr motor (i have the job of fitting it) the guy he got it of gave him a xr ecu to go with it, he doent know if the ecu was auto or manual, the code on the ecu is 4TFA could someone please tell me if this is auto/manual and if it is even a xr6 ecu??

Is his car on LPG? Those plastic PCV's often get brittle and fall apart on LPG cars. Aftermarket ones are metal.

Strange that it happen whilst getting wheel alignment. However it may have just occured as they were moving the car around or test driving it after.

4TFA?
sure its not 4TBA? If it is... its an auto ECU
tickford manuals are only:
4TAB
4TAC
4TAD
if its not one of these.. chances are its auto as factory fairmonts/fairlanes were never manual. also it could be a tickford gas.

if all else fails just use the stocko ecu and sell the proclaimed XR one!

After market PCV's are worth stuff all.

Most LPG installers fit a steel one, heard of plenty that have back fired and blown the guts out of the valve and caused the above damage.
