I have discovered something very interesting.... My car har been playing up ever since i bought it 4 years go EL XR8.... I recently blew it up and got it re built and it ran liike a dog. I just bought a throttle body off ebay to suit with tps sensors. I noticed they have 2 tps sensors?? is this normal...???? mine only had one which was dodgy. Ever since fitting the new sensor it is great My question is do i need to attach the second TPS and what does it do???

Thanks Guys

Two options:manual and auto use same wiring loom or car was auto and been converted to manual.Second TPS not needed as it bumps up the revs a bit in autos when you put it into gear so they dont stall.

You guys are not confusing the EGR for a second TPS are you?
EGR is the on the front side of the throttle body. You have a spare plug when the EGR is removed and blanked off.

Dont plug it in mate, you would better serve time giving your car a wash as it will do jack poop. The 2nd one is there if its an auto.

I've got 2 but I need the auto one plugged in as mines still got the tranny ecu to fool the EECIV. If yours was manual from the factory or converted with a manual EECIV, then you will not need the 2nd TPS.

The plugs on them are slightly different so you cant connect the wrong sensor to the wront plug.. With my faulty one it made the car run like crap between 1000 rpm and 2000 rpm. I couldnt believe the difference it made.. Now it is not ideling right, it goes up and down.. Bloody thing.

Each TPS has the same connector so it doesn't matter which one goes where. One goes to the Trans control unit and one to the EEC. If you have a manual; only one is required so take one of them off and use shorter screws to hold the remaining one on.
I have described in other posts how to set the EEC TPS for best throttle response.

Pete.
