after fitting my new cam and resetting the computer in the car, setting the base idle so it dont stall cos its lumpy, (set at 900 RPM)

it holds the revs up at around 2000 -2500 for ages then slowly drops down to the base idle of 900 or 1100 depending on how stupid it is being.

its manual and it used to always rev up and drop straight back down to the base idle.

(i have manny computer) (heh unless carl swapped it with his auto puter without me knowing)

how do i either kill that motor controlled idle or get it to drop to base idle faster..

at the moment i got no engine braking.. more like a fkn cruise control at 2000- 2500 revs. :S

thanks

I got sick of the computer controlled idle in my EL manual, so I disconnected the Idle Speed Controller valve. Now my car returns to base idle when i close the throttle on gear shifts.

That might fix the problem your talking about, it makes the car behave 'normal'. I'm not sure if the ED's have this valve, but it may be something to consider.

The EDs have the same valve, but what you might find is that it will idle too low with the cam and without the ISC valve raising the idle. Mine didn't work on my ED and the idle was nearly too low for the standard futura cam. But give it a shot I guess, If the idle isn't too low for the cam then you will be sweet.

I had problems with my AU with the idle not being raised enough, and sometimes if i changed gears while braking and turning the car would stall....

good luck,
matt

fixed!!!

technique =

warm running temp
disconnect TCP wires to throttle body controller.
turn car on .. idle
adjust idle screw to lowest idle possible, if its easy then its too high. if it stalls... too low. somewhere in between.

discharge positive terminal onto negative terminal of battery.. (theres no sparks,. this is to reset the puter by draining all the capacitors n s**t i spose.)

leave for about 10 -15 min.

reconnect..

drive away.. (will take about 600 ks to get fully normal (ie puters used to new cam etc)

thanks SVOXR6 for this method
