Took my car to Auto Bahn, today apparently gonna cost around $1200 to change the head gasket becuase coolant sprayed into the exhaust manifold and they have to get it machine or s**t to engineering place, my car was running fine but kept asking for coolant everytime i put some in it would spit it outta the bottle and overflow out, (leak out... )
anyone had the problem b4 and how much they got quoted apperently my head bolts could have snap wat r the chances of that happening??? regards ND

I did it myself, cost about $60 for the gasket, $40 for the parts I broke, $50 in tools I didn't have. Oh, and also a month of my life. How does he know your headbolts might be snapped, did he already remove the rocker cover and gear?

If you have a decently stocked tool box it should cost less than $500 to do yourself and that includes getting the head welded and machined. Definately shop around because prices can vary from $750+.
cheers Scott

If you can replace the cam then the head gasket is only a few extra bolts, ie take off the intake and exhaust and remove the head, voila!.
