My mate wants to install a pair of 6.5" type x alpines into his el fairmont ghia.
The fairmont has the premium sound package.
Will the 6.5" fit into the stock front door location without modification.
I remember seeing a thread in which pyroay stated that you just needed to screw a 9mm mdf spacer onto the stock location. BUT would this prevent the door trim from going back into place properly????

So would the 6.5" type x splits fit with spacers or should i tell him to get the 5.25" type x splits???

not sure with the spacer...i think it still wouldnt fit...straight out tho no...the Type-R and Type-X alpine 6.5" splits wont fit in the factory 6" hole due to the support arms....the hole can be modified to take them without any drams and its quick and easy...all u need is some metal cutter tins snips will even do the job if there decent...just to cut out area for thesupport arms.
