Hoping someone can help me. I have fitted a car kit for my mobile phone. Into my 2001 Au. But I cannot seem to find the radio mute wire that feeds into the back of the radio. Does anyone have any idea. I asked dad and although he is a mechanic, he has no idea about carkits and radios. The car kit works fine except it won't mute the radio, so I can't hear anything

if you've got a workshop manual, the wiring diagram should help you out. i'm not familiar with the AU wiring for the stereo.

I can't quite remember where it is...

I think it's in the "carkit" plug, that has constant power, ignition power, ground, and mute.

It's a standard looking plastic plug taped to the loom above the drivers left knee. You can pull it down, has about 20cm of loom running from it into the main harness.

If they are nice like the EL's, the location and pinouts will be in the glovebox owners manual.

4 easy wires, yellow is constant 12v, black is gnd, green is mute and the 4th (cant remember colour) is accessories feed.
