They are a b**ch for squeeling, even with new ones you have to have a lot of tension on them, it's usually glazed pulleys that cause it.

I hate replacing the belts on the EB engines. They all have to be quite tight. I say figure out which one(S) are squeaking then replace and tighten a fair bit.

Get a bar of soap and hold against the bottom of the belt as the engine is running. BE CAREFULL. This will help with the squealing.

cheers
Scott

^ good advice.

A bit of CRC Belt Grip works a treat as well. Just go easy with the spray, it's like a tacky mild adhesive and sticks like s**t to a pig.

And you can weld with a car battery and a cpl of 2 cent coins can't you? LOL

Sorry mate but that's not something i'd recommend to anyone.

Belt grip is ok but doesn't last long.
Fit new belts and tighten the crap out of them, it's not great on bearings etc but it'll stop it.
Check all your pulleys, i think you'll find some are very glazed up which causes belt slippage.
While you have the belts off, spin the idler pulleys and see if any are overly noisy or too tight, have replaced quite a few that have seized up and fried the belt off them.

I know i've had mine slipping because they were done up too tight. loosened them off a bit and the problem went. because the p/s belt is a v type, if it's too tight it pushes down too far in the pulleys.
Gotta look at my belts as well. it squeals like mad when i turn the spotties on...

Good chance its the Idler pulley, mine used to squeel. thought it was the belts.
to determine which ones are squeeling, spray individuall 1 at a tim with CRC/RP7 onto the pulley under side of the belt.

its not just eb...its ea's aswell..

just a correction, i got 2 things mixed up in my last post.
what i meant was, after you check for squeaks with crc and the noise is still there after all have been sprayed, its the bearing INSIDE the Idler Pulley.

When cold my car squeeled like the arabian monkey mentioned on other parts of this forum, then warm it made noises like that same monkey grinding its teeth on speed whilst being abused in the same manner. Then whilst driving it shat out the power steering idler pulley. Does the nut/bolt (the only part left) have a left or right hand thread on it? And Should I just get a secondhand idlerpulley or is a new one worth the money? How long do these idler pulleys usually last? Are aftermarket brands ok?
