howdy just wondered with all 6 cylinder cars falcons and commodores what parts, mechanics or cams do you need to have to have fitted to reduce aignificant strain on your car engine when towing up hills and on flat ground

Not a lot you can do to reduce strain, it's pulling weight so of course it's going to work harder.
At the least run a trans cooler on an auto. |

you can get cams suited to towing get a hold of crow cams they can sort it out. the usual breathing mods will help aswell but more focus to be put on the gearbox they are what die easy. big trans coler at least.

what do the towing cams look like and do they make the car go faster or is it just to kick in when towing and nothing else

Basically for engine mods just a very small performance cam (if any, the standard cam IS a torque cam). Extractors would help, especially ones with small primary pipes. For torque, performance mods such as headwork should be avoided.
Im with Walker on the trans cooler - the bigger the better. Also dont try and drag a heavy load up in overdrive. Shift down, get the engine into its powerband and reduce stress on the gearbox.
