Under drive pulleys are your best bang for buck.
After that I would get a full exhaust system, probably Pacemakers and a single 3" system. Then after that the money gets a little more. Some GT40P heads and an Explorer manifold that could set you back $1000-$1500 not including fitting. Then you can get a bigger throttle body and MAF sensor. This is all assuming your running a stock HO and E7 Windsor V8. |

good luck trying to find a v8 5speed conversion. you can make fairly decent power with the stock heads and intake manifold. i have 160 at the treads with stock heads and intake. they are ported though and i have cam and mafless tune with aftermarket computer. std auto with shift kit and 3.9 minispooled diff help get it off the line reasonably well. can beat a fairly std gen3.
whichever way you go you will need cash and plenty of it. small power = small dollars. big power = big dollars.

I certainly dont like the idea of slowing down the relative speed of water pump unless your on a race track all day, as they can tend to heat up when chugging around in traffic, plus any charging issues associated with running the alternator slow.
The easiest power mod you can make is changing the intake manifold and let the 5.0 breath a bit better. That will give you way more poke than a stock form 5.0

good start is the intake manifold/throttle body..
the 185kw ELs made their power with stock maf.. but the only thing different was extractors, and the manifold/tb. once u change maf u have to be wary of part-throttle drivability issues.. (on ef/els they can spread to wot too), and also some buggered fuel economy if its not right.. i say this since ur playing with the very sensor that dictates how much fuel to put in and u really need to do some dyno runs to make sure its ok, or u could run lean n kill ur motor. before u start muckin around with that, start off on nuts n bolts stuff. look on ebay or around here for an AU intake/throttle body or some edelbrock items. if u buy new u can pay 1500 bucks for them but if u shop around the AU ones will do fine and can be had for 600 ish from what ive seen.. also while ur there u may aswell stick some roller rockers on for less friction and, depending on which rocker ratio you get, increase in cam lift. also change ur diff ratio to 3.45.. the change isnt all that noticable for cruising but that little bit helps for the autos tall first gear.. it wont be a bad thing if/when u go manual too.
