Be careful with NRMA, they for some reason think bigger/wider wheels are more unsafe, so have very strick limits on sizes. Only reason I'm running GT rims, is cause I convinved them they were a factory option (and it was on their list too whihc helped a bit, cause I saw their screen). I told them about the lowering and stereo too.

Stereo = not covered
Wheels = $100 each :( (actually costed me ~$1800)
Lowering = not covered (ie. if I prang it, they'll only replace with stock suspension).

Rating 1, 65% NCB for life* (of the policy, not me), 23YO Male, low risk area. Haven't told them about the alarm as it isn't Aus Spec (no black wires). ~$760pa with 1 not at fault acco. Was only $660pa before that acco (fair huh :roll: ).

my normal insurance company (NRMA) wouldn't insure my EL Fairmont with all the mods .... so i insured it through SHANNONS :D :D :D

With SHANNONS it is insured as fully modified car and can do what ever i like to it with out effecting my insurance or increasing the price of premiums

17 x 8 mags .... super low ... 2.5" cat back exhaust as well as extractors ...
window tint ... good headunit and 2 amps and speakers and sub ... ect

How much for the premiums? I'm looking at some more mods, and NRMA will laugh at me.

Yeah I'm wanting to do more mods, so I'll be looking at Shannons or JustCars.

I checked JustCars earlier this year, for what I've got now, they wanted $1,100pa :(

I'm with the RAC (WA).

I asked them about the Headers and zorst. The lady I spoke to said that as long as the motor was stock they didn't need to know, as the motor was still considered to have stock power output.

So I asked about fitting 16" rims and she said that as long as they were listed on the tyre placard, I didn't have to tell them. However if I got expensive rims I may then want to "add" them to the insurance so that they would be covered. She said the same about audio gear.

With RAC (WA) they dont have any problems with you lowering either as long as its still legal with DPI, they just note it down on the policy schedule. (no premium increase from memory)

For what its worth, my policy is around ~1100pa for agreed $12,000 +250-basic +300-age +400-imposed in my name but thats for completely stock.

I think the RAC's explaination about audio stuff was that it only covered up to $250 or $300 in value under the policy, anything else you have to put on the policy and pay extra premium if you want that covered.

From what I've heard and found from RAC they are actually pretty good for young drivers, they aren't super strict (wheels/audio/lower/exhaust) and are reasonably priced considering... also give a small discount if your a member.

Might be worth contacting your local state RAC to get a quote.
