Hey all,
My mont is difficult to start in the morning (takes three or four turn off, ignition cycles). It also stalls when i switch it to petrol, and if it switches to petrol without stalling often won't respond if i rev and eventually rolls to a stop and dies. I figure it's the fuel pump not working, hence why it's running on lpg but not petrol. So, if this is the case, how much am I looking at for a new fuel pump (or even a second hand one, i don't care i just want it to pump fuel) and is it hard to change? |

new pump $150ish bosch $100 for generic, haven't checked in a while.
to change lift boot carpet remove four srews holding on the steel cover plate vacumn any rocks general crap that will be there disconnect the pump power, leave fuel lines on start car to remove preassure from lines disconnect battery, safety sake disconnect fuel lines from pump unsrew the big round thing around the pump lift out the cradle change pump filter and the outer o-ring replace everything check for leaks i'd be looking at your injectors first though as they will get clogged up over time if not used. to check fuel pump working stand at the back with boot open get someone to turn on ignition with changeover switch on petrol and listen for whirring sound, which indicates pump is working.

Don't buy a generic pump, I've had major major problems with trying to fit one. Kept on burning them out. After 3 pumps, went to a wrecker and bought a 2nd hand one ($90) and no prob since. A bit noisy tho lol
Make sure you replace the outer rubber gasket $20 odd from Ford. It makes life easier. |

check filters and a few other things first.
might also be the ecu having a hard time adapting from one fuel to another

might also be the ecu having a hard time adapting from one fuel to another LOL, ECU adapts just fine. As msman said, i think it would be more of an injector problem, they gum up with LPG because of little use... Change your fuel filter while you're at it. |

I put brand new injectors in about 5000km ago, they shouldn't be clogged yet should they?
admittedly i don't run it on petrol much. |

if you believe the injectors are good, then atleast check your fuel filter $20 ryco item and about 10 minutes to change.
then check if your getting power to the pump and injectors, lpg swichover may be causing you grief.
