How do you install the speedo gear on BTR 93LE 4 speed automatic transmission? You don't need to removing the extention housing do you?

Nah its piss easy. Undo the bolt that holds the sender in, pull it out, swap the gear, slide it back in, do the bolt up.

Cool, it's actually the genuine Ford EF repair manual that says to remove the extention housing! So which is the bolt that hodls the sender in? So is there a seal or anything that I'll need to replace at the same time? |

you would have to take the housing off to change the drive gear, not the driven gear. maybe thats what its refering to.

Is this it?
http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/3226/dscn1542wp3.jpg Just undo that bolt, remove that clip? Bit of a prick to get to with the exhaust, rear transmission mount and gear selector lickage in the way! |

thats it.
Undo the bolt, the little bracket slides out with the sender. When you get it out you will see the gear and c-clip you need to take off.

All done, well a few hours ago, aswell as the rear extension hosuing seal on the tranny.
was bloody fiddley trying to get it back in and swapping the cogs over, couldn't get my hand up there with the gear selector shaft. |
