Hey guys,
Im fairly hopeless with figuring out what code im after so I recorded what my airbag light flashes and here it is start up car; flash x 3 pause x 3sec flash x 3 pause x 5sec flash x 3 pause x 3sec flash x 3 pause x 5sec flash x 3 pause x 3 sec flash x 3 pause x 5sec flash x 3 pause x 3 sec flash x 3 pause x 5sec flash x 3 pause x 3 sec flash x 3 pause x 5sec flash = stays on Any ideas? Would that means its code 35? |

error code is 33.
error is "Resistor or Passenger Airbag High Resistance or Open Circuit" so basically, if you have a passenger airbag the circuit is open. if not, then the terminator sounds like it may have come off the end of the line. see http://www.fordmods.com/forums/documents.php?doc=3 for more details.

I have the same code. Where is the resistor on a EF series 1?
cheers Scott

IIRC the loom is still in place for the passenger airbag - it was optional on futura's. there is a plug on the end of the line that loops the signal back.
i'd guess this is what's causing the problem!

Hmmm. I was told that is only the case for EL's. I'll check to make sure.

Rob: Should be able to see it through the upper left holes in the glovebox cavity - it'll have a plastic covered resistor plugged into a loom with light yellow conduit.
Macgyver: The light blue control unit is in the cavity above the accelerator cable - look for the plug and resistor taped to the loom nearby, probably on the one that goes through the firewall. The resistor looks similar to the ones taped to the ECU loom (under the glovebox), for example. Probably in both cases, all you may need to do is unplug/plug the resistor back in. The plugs do have shorting links, but if you're worried, disconnect the battery first. You might need to reset the codes also.

cheers dude i don't even have a EF or EL and i can tell its 33, look at the pattern 3 flashs, pause for 3 secs (the 3 sec pause is to seperate digits) another 3 flashs, pause for 5 secs (end of code) over and over becuase its your only error code. Easy

The resistor in EF1s is on the loom near the Airbag diagnostic module (mounted to the plate above the accelerator pedal).
Edit: Just saw this had been answered..
