This may be a stupid question but how do i take the auto transmission out so i can take the surround out?

unscrew the handle, pull it off, then pull the nut off - you should, if you angle the shifter rod correctly, be able to pull the auto surround out! :wink:

yeah. takes some fidgeting. set it in a lower gear and u can ease it out.

well to take the auto trans out requires a hoist and tools!
undo the tailshaft and take that out,,, LOL

i pressume u mean the gear selector surround follow the step above :>)

:lol: Squeeze with left hand if in drivers seat, or both if you feel unconfident, and turn your hands ANTI clockwise, the first time you unscrew it, it will be firm, so turn hard. As if you are holding a screw driver. Try it...

It helps the 1st time to use a shifting spanner within a cloth (so not to wreck the nut) whilst turing it..
Keep at it and it will just simply unscrew.

As said: Anti-Clockwise to Remove!

So we depress then button and then the knob shold just unscrew itself off then we can take the surround out?

these young ones should be butchers!!! undo the lock nut to stop the risk of snapping the button! and i believe there is a second skin under the console attatched to the floor.
