Can anybody tell me what size speakers I can put into my EF front doors without having to cut larger holes, the car audio shop I asked tell me that they will only take 4inch speakers. I was hoping to put 6 inch speakers in. Thanks.

hey mate i own a el farimont and a fitted a set of jbl 6.5inch speakers into the front doors. i didnt have to modify the trim in any way except for the mounting postion, i had to drill four new holes to secure them but having said that they dont interfear with the window mechanisms or trim they fit perfect and sound awesome... if 6inch is good 6.5 has to be better right...

not necessarily.

not all 6.5 inch speakers fit properly anyway. i know this for a fact, as i have 6.5 inch speakers here that did NOT fit in my doors.

quality is always better than size.

yer i have no doubt that different brands of speakers have different dimentions which would limit fitment to the door recess on our model ford..like i said i used jbl and had no trouble fitting them, but i have no idea bout other brands of speakers... and you are right quality always out weighs size in speaker selection...

Thanks for the help/replies, I've just gone back thru 20 pages in the Audio/Visual/Communications Forum and everybody is saying 6 inch all round. At least I can buy my speakers now knowing they will fit. Cheers.

5 1/4" , 6" and 6.5" mostly all the same deal.....some brand 6.5"s will fit with no drama...some 6.5"s only require small mods to the doors...or fitting of a 8 or 9mm mdf spacer....these mods tho are easy cheap and quick to do..

yeh the EB2 up got 6" drivers...dont be lazy hack ya doors :P ... honestly takes a nivice bout 2-5mins to get the door trims off....and only a few more to cut (and this is only if required) to fit 6"/6.5" drivers...just depending on the support arms etc.
