I got myself a pair of EL XR6 bonnet vents, should I use the vent on the passenger side as another air intake for the airbox or would the air getting rammed into the airbox from the snorkel blow out through the vent?

I wondered about water getting in, if I cut the hole towards the front of the airbox it won't get the pod filter so it should be fine (fingers crossed)

I just got mine a couple off weeks ago... all i needed was the vent and he said it was all good... so you dont have to get the air lid box as well.
very well built indeed!

As you said your self the original Ford/Tickford one is a vent, for releasing air, you need a scoop if you want it to feed air in.

the vent would still be able suck air in though wouldn't it

negative pressure zone on the bonnet does not have a large pressure flow it can actually have more of a suction effect than a ram effect.. some agree some don't. look into aerodynamics and such.. but there is not a heap of air to be drawn from there..

The standard air vent will not be too successful as it has no capture on it, purely relies on surface air passing over to enter.

it won't get a ram effect but it can suck in the air passing over the bonnet right? and rely on the snorkel under the bonnet as the air ram into the airbox

yeah thats correct.. will pull a small amount of air that passes over, bear in mind you will need to modify your airbox to allow for that as well, then seal up round it under the bonnet so it does not suck hot air too.

yeah it will only get a small amount of extra air (+induction noise), I'll be cutting a hole in the airbox lid so it can suck air, and use the old door rubbers from my XD Ghia i'm rebuilding for the seal between the airbox lid and the bonnet
