did ef fairmonts come with LSD's? cause my mate has one and reckons it had an open diff, but one day when he was doin some long burnouts it made some weird noise and both wheels started spinning.....sounded like bull to me but could anyone shed somee light on it

Fairmonts dont come with an LSD standard - It could have been optioned.
If it was a ghia they came with LSD factory

not std but option.
simple, jack car up at diff (both wheels off ground), one mate hold one wheel tight (handbrake off) and you try spin your wheel. if it spins single, doesnt lsd. |

Thats not the best way because if the LSD is totally rooted it will still spin. Just turn the wheel on one side and look at what way the other side spins. If they both turn the same way is LSD, if the turn in opposite directions its open wheeler.

yeah....il try that this weekend.....its just that when he got the car it was an open diff apparently....like when he did burnouts only one wheel spinning....and then one day when he was about 5mins into destroying a set of tires the diff made some kinda bang noise and both wheels started spinning....i thought it was s**t n must have been an LSD originally...il check to see if it has LSD markings 2moro tho (i think its a tag or something )

or look for a metal tag attached to the diff...doesnt that indicate LSD?

Could still be a single spinner, they can spin both wheels sometimes.

hey mate,ya diff is probably about to blow,it will happen sooner or later,an open centre will start to lock up when the diff is stuffed,me mates xf falcon did,if ya wanna keep that diff a little longer i wud go easy on it,but hey thats easier said than don,ay oh well/finish it.
