As per title, I am in urgent need of a workshop manual for my ef, More specifically ANYTHING in there to do with TIMING, so if you have a scanner, that would be better.
Not looking to buy, just borrow for a day. Im in Keilor (west subs of melb, near airport) Or if anyone knows specifically how to reset timing and cam....as Ive just done the head + gasket, and don't remember where the cam sat when I took it out.... Cheers

wtf is the cam gear?? lol I do have a fair bit of knowledge bout motors ne s**t, but Im lost on that...

The cam gear is the big round thing thats bolted to the front of the cam (timing chain goes over it).

Yeah that came off.....forgot there wasa chain tensioner.....although found it not 2 mins after takin it off. ah well...so yes, that has come off....need to know how to reset everything to normal so not to bend valves or what not....

What I mean is - is the cam gear still on the chain? If it is an you havnt skipped a tooth then you just need to bolt the cam back on and redo the tensioner. The way you want to remove the head is to release the tensioner, unbolt the cam gear from the cam but leave it in the chain, remove the cam and head, and then put it back together in the reverse order.
If you have taken the gear out your going to be in trouble. You need the engine at TDC, then you need to line the timing mark on the cam gear so that it is level with the top of the head on the right hand side (ill scan a pic to show you in a sec).

The crank and aux shaft gear have to have the marks pointing at each other This aligns the sequencer and crank at TDC. I hope for your sake the engine is at TDC and you havent dropped the chain so you dont have to worry about this.
When the crank is in the right place, the notch on the cam gear has to be a few degrees above the top of the head (kind of hard to see in this pic but you get the idea).

Yeah I did take the cam gear out, screwed everything lol....anyways, the old man reckons he's got the cam where it should be. But then I broke the valve "thingy" inside the chain tensioner. So the car aint goin nowhere til 2mora arvo when i finish work. Then on friday whilst at work, gonna get mechanic next door to reset timing + plus the cover seal needs doin as the crossmember is absoultly covered in oil. So if on the way to work, a valve breaks or bends, the old man repairs. Id do the timing myself, using those pics, but I dont have the time anymore, I started this s**t on Monday, head didnt come back til this morning.......great isnt it lol. But it only cost $120 incl to do the head. Cheers dude.

You dont need to do anything to the timing - its completely computer controlled. Just get the cam in the right spot (triple check) and then turn the engine over by hand a few times to make sure the valves are clear of the pistons.
BTW - the cam must be in the correct place relative to the crank gear. If you put the cam in the 'correct' place but the engine is not at TDC there is a VERY good chance you will destroy the engine
