EF/ELs only have two bolts holding the booster to firewall.
It'd only take one being a bit loose to really effect brake pedal feel.

Well the problem seems to be fixed now , only thing is it cost me a new master cyclinder
i borrowed a vacuum type brake bleeder and bled the system, but it made no difference to the peddel length. i managed to get a new master cyclinder for $200 and i bought some new bleeder nipples all round as well. re bled the system again and the peddle is back to normal and damn the car pulls up quick now. thanks for all the help in trying to fix this problem Bucko

yeah im my case it was the master cyclinder.
i will be pulling the old one apart to find out what stuffed up in it when i get some free time, as it has only been on the car for ~77000km surprisingly i got the NEW master cyclinder from ford, gotta love trade prices i will be making a brace between the strut tower and the master cyclinder soon as i saw how much it all moves when the brake peddle is pressed and there is a stupid amount of movement. id go from the shock tower on the side to the front of the master cylinder, not sure on how to attach it tho unless you welded it or used a clamp on it

just a word of caution guys... the brake booster is tightened to a specific nm, and if over tightened will result in a cracked booster. Had it happen in my EL which resulted in an accident!
I'll see if i can find my manual and post the torque figures... Cheers |
