Hi guys,as the subject states i've just got hold of an EA and one of the first things to do was lower it.so i got some springs and shocks off of ebay and banged them in.but when i took it for a drive it was as stiff as buggery in the rear so i jacked it back up and took some pics.It seems that the upper trailing arm is bottoming out on the bottom spring saddle and the spring is touching the arm as well.What has got me confused is the trailing arms are boxed steel about 40mm square and all the other EAs that i have looked at have had a pressed steel trailing arms.any ideas would be great and if i haven't explained it enough ask me questions.

either the upper arm is in the wrong way ie back to fornt, or is wrong side ie left to right.

Could also be possible that it is an arm out of a later model.

recently had the same problem at work. Simply swaped sides and all was good.

so you think if i change the upper arms from left to right it might solve it, i'll give it a go!!

DO NOT replace the upper trailing arms. Look at the bottom rubber seat, it isnt in correctly. Im betting the springs arent being trapped by the shocks (shortened shocks needed) and when the car was lowered onto the ground the spring has moved out of the lower seat and thus hitting the trailing arm.

Please disregard my first post!
I had a closer look and realised that the spring is seated correctly. It appears the upper trailing arms simply have to be flipped over on the same side so as the longer straight profile from the bush is to the rear of the car as its on the front now causing it to fowl on the springs. Changing from left to right wont change a thing unless they are flipped as just stated.
Ive added a pic to show how the trailing arms should look.

thanks for all the help guys, flipped them over problem solved.I must state that i didn't fit the arms wrong in the first place but the car was like that when i got it.god no's how anyone was driving it before!!!
Again thanks for the fast help and it was spot on as well.
