Hi all i've only just come across this website and it has already been very helpful, but i had a question i thought someone here might be able to help with.... i have an ex-cab ef falcon that isnt in too bad shape considering, and the clock is wrong but i'd say its done any where up to 500k's. was just wondering would this car be worth doing up? it drives reasonably well for an ex-cab with some problems like idleing problems etc, the auto gearbox still feels good tho. i was thinking of rebuilding the engine because ive lost my licence til March :( so would it be worth doing or would it be a waste of time seeing the whole car has been through so much? any feedback would be great or if anybody is in the same boat?
Cheers

if u got the money yeh y not spend it on the car u have.... unless the money u spend on the car exceeds teh cost of buying another better condition EF... Then again if u do it up atleast u know wats the actual internal condition. so in my opinion its a 50-50 decision... hope u followed wat i was saying :)

depends on how shagged it is.

I have seen some mega dodgy repairs and paint jobs done on cabs that do more harm then good. Saying that, if it has a nice body is clean and straight and won't have to spend $$$ just on repairs to make it as good as a normal EF then go for it

depends on it's conditioner.
i mean most people doing up an GLi end up replacing everything anyways, e.g. interior, susensions, etc.m so so long as body is decent should be a fine starting platform.

if you rebuild the motor or replace the motor most of the issues will go away. as said above replace the interior and hopefully find alot of cash from under the seat :P

but yeah my opinion is "any falcon is worth doing up"

hmm, not just driveline stuff that might be shagged. all the suspension components (shocks, springs, bushes etc) will have copped a pounding and are likely to be shagged. guess if you're doing it all yourself it'll save you a bit of dosh and you'll learn something along the way.

rings and bearings are about 250 and a gasket kit is about 180-200 mark, now these are the basic bits, all other gaskets such as thermostat housing will need to be made up as the only made ones are in a full rebuil kit which costs around 800. also include some paint for looks ;)
