Hey guys, im just curious how much weight might you save by removing the entire interior from the front seast back, like rear seats, door trims, boot trim all of it? Is it illegal to do this? Im guessing it will save a fair bit of weight cause i know that even the door trims are quite heavy for what they are.

anther thing you might consider is removing the spare wheel temporarally when you really need as little weight as possible

I think that there is a good 70 kg in there.
About legality you can take out items, tat are not needed for driving examples un-used passenger seat, stereo Don't take out thinds like dash instruments and you should be fine.

actually it's illegal to drive around on the street witout passenger/rear seats in unless the car is registed with a lower seating capacity and the seats are permenantly removed
as for the door trims...... afaik, the doors need to be triimed in a way that means no sharp edges or reflective surfaces..... IIRC the carpet can go too provided there is a non slip surface of some form in the drivers footwell, tho theres nothing against stipping out any or all sound deadening material if you're serious about putting the car on a diet, consider this lot: remove the stereo remove the aircon consider getting a smaller heater radiator built remove all sound deadening if theres a passenger side airbag, toss it remove the spare, jack, wheelbrace, etc and get a can or two of the "spare tyre in a can" s**t remove the console if you've got power windows, ditch them along with all the wiring and install manual windows replace the clock/tc with a blanking plate lighter battery the more serious stuff depends on how light you want to go, and after a point it's easier to make more power than it is to make the car lose weight

mmm, something people dont tend to think of is fuel, if u strip all that weight, then put 70litres of fuel in that car, then uve essesntially putr about 70kg back into the car, which defeats the purpose, also, run shell optimax(or better grade) petrol, and use octance booster (about 12-$15 a bottle, and will treat a full tank.
if ur nuts about wieght reduction, get under the hood, rip out the cruise control, the heat matt(although if ur lightening ur car to race it, i wouldnt reccomend it as ur engine will get way hotter), theres even things such as lightened flywheels, lighter diffs, etc oh and if you pull out the stereo, remember the speakers, all of them lol. ive pulled a bit of weight outta the falcon before, nuttin major, just the jack, spare, the tools, the rear speakers, even took my new hubbies off. the car had 15litres of bp ultimate in it, and the right wheel got a lil, how could i put it??.....chirpy!! . even take off was improved, not by an awful lot, but a noticable amount. oh, and new exhaust within the month ought to help power to weight a lil.

Why don't you take out the whole interior and sit on a milk crate?
That would lighten it some what

which is how d**k johnson got sprung when he was running a 1350-odd kg XD Falcon..... he used to take it for scrutineering with a full tank, but one day his mechanic took it in nearly empty, and people thought "wtf is going on here" when his car weighed 1350kg, and the heaviest falcon was 1770-off kilo's!

Not quite, fuel has and SG of about 0.72, so your 68L tank will have about 49kg in it.

If its street then if your willing id just ditch the spare/jack/brace and always have little fuel - thats as far as i think is sensible if you really wanna do it. You could always take it one step further and make your falcon a permanent convertable 2 door running on lpg; that should be light!
