what do i need to fit a 6.5in midrange in my front door? i think i read somewhere an MDF spacer will work fine, does anyone know what depth or have a pic of it?

i tried searching cause i swear i've seen this topic before but no results showed up when i typed in "6.5" :?

Depends on the 6.5" 'Some' will fit...I know from experience Alpines new range don't due to the thick fancy lookin support arms....

You can go a 9mm MDF spacer or modify the factory 6" hole to take em...what I did for mine.

Again MDF spacer may not work depending on the size/depth of the speaker you go with.

ohh ok....the ones im gettin are hertz esk165 (i think)...il try the 9mm MD spacer and if not il rearrange my holes

what do people do to the door trim....im attempting to get rid of a bit with sandpaper (we've just moved and power tools in boxes :( )

i modded my actual door, just cut out sections for the speaker basket to slot into :P fits fine ;)

yeah shoulda done that instead....now i have a spacer and ive cut the trim to fit, but i needa cut it some more

Yeh thats all i did for the Alpine 6.5" splits I have in the factory holes just use a jigsaw and metal cutters to cut out the sections to allow the thicker mounting arms to slide in...nice neat fit and sounds great :)

well i got them in and they sound sweet, but i needed to hack away at my door trim a bit, and cut the bit that holds the grill into the door (which i then superglued) but the grill started comin up

might be gettin fairmont doortrims soon anyway so il make sure il figure something goood out for them
