i have just recently decided to lower my xr and to say the least it looks amazing and handles sweet as. best thing i eva did... BUT... i have a rattle in the rear suspension that i cant pin-point. it seems to only be on the drivers side... any ideas on what this may be or any help would be greatly appreciated because it is really noticiable and just spoils it cos its a sweet as car now and it sucks to drive cos all u can hear is this rattle...

ill take a stab at this even though im not a professional...in anything for that matter.
ummm are all bolts done up nice and tight? are those rubber bushes or whatever they are put in the right way (supposedly they are directional?)....or after lowering is ur exhaust starting to hit any of the parts like diff and such? might need to get your exhaust raised if thats the case or get new rubber holder thingies that hold the exhaust. hope that helps phong =P~

could possibly be the tailshaft hitting the undercarrige i think its a common problem with lowering ef/el

try removing your spare wheel and jack then take it for a drive

Check the upper trailing arm bushes, if they are worn they will clunk especially when lowered. Id doubt very much if its the driveshaft as it would be alot more than a clunk when hitting the floor. Drive the rear up onto some ramps and check for clearances on the exaust.

my zorst actully had twisted on a anti-clockwise direction about 20degrees, and that was enuff for my middle muffler to start knocking on a bolt..

Quite common these noises - its usually just the lower shock mount bolt. Gotta really reef it up tight as... should solve your prob

I agree, you will probably find it is a lower shock bolt, even when you think they are tight, you have to tighten some more. |

When i got mine done i had the same rattle, i took it back to the guys who did it and they said its common. The paint under the lower shock bolt wears of and the bolt becomes loose.
