Should the red/orange dots/circles on the tyres line up with the valve?

when the rims come new they have a red dot on them that is supopsed to line up with the red dot on the tyre, the other colour(orange, gold, yellow) is supposed to line up with the valve although ive seen heaps with 1 or both of them wrong... i wouldnt worry about it too much.

Lining the dots correctly is supposed to make it easier to balance. On motorbike tyres you always line the dots up.

Doesnt make much diference, can sometimes mean a little less weight on the rim but if they are not lined up its should still be balanced properly aslong as it was done right

I think the red dot marks the spot on the tyre that
is "off-weight" or "off-circle" when electronically measured against the dimensions of the tyre out of the mould after manufacture. (As no tyre can be made into a perfect circle) This point can be used for balancing the tyre on a rim, with weights and the like. I think also that the coloured dots help identify certain batches of tyres from the factory. |

i fit tires to rims all the time and i always try to line the dots up with the valve but if they dont line up it doesnt mean sh#t.
you cant line up the dots on most directional tires because the dots are only on one side.

your right about no tire being perfect..
iv fitted tires before that when i pumped it up it had an egg in it so that tire was sent back to the manufacturer..

My new rims and tires had those dots all over them when I first picked them up.
