Fellas, Im on my knees here.....
For a few weeks now, the beast has been playing up on LPG. We got tothe bottom of it the other day... The LPG mixer is shot. So im in the market for a new one. I went to the wreckers, and they can send me on from the gold coast for $110. Not bad considering aftermarket new one is $500, or apparently the original from ford is $800+. But I need the numbers of the lpg mix off the side to give me the right one, this requires to pull the bastard out.... But the car is used daily and I can't afford to do that. Its a Factory/Dealer fitted Viallie unit. Whats the number of the freaking mixer. I know that in basics they are the same as each other, but the coolant & gas, inlets, outlets, are in different places. I know that they are the same units right through to current BF Gas powered cars. Any direction here fellas? I do over 1000k a week. The fuel bill is beginning to hurt. Cheers, BBII |

Have you thought about telling us what type of car you have?

there are 6 different vialle converters.
need to know ur model to "guess" your vialle converter part number. the difference between all converters is the number of solenoids, and the positition of all the connections, and also if you have a prime solenoid on your converter or not. |

Its a 94 NC II 5Litre Built in June if I remember. Dad and I used a extendable & swing mirror to get it's numbers. We checked many wreckers, but keep coming up empty handed. Spoke to a Gas bloke, and he said to Apply for the $2000 LPG grant, and get the vialle system ripped out, and put in a new mixer, & computer unit. Should stop the backfiring to. The guy himself drives a ford, and said that he hasn't experienced the problems other LPG powered cars have. So i think thats the way to go. The Vialle units, oncve they get old, just aren't the best in the reliability dept. But if anybody has a better seggestion than the grant/new system. Can you post it??

Sorry but you can't get the grant as your car already has a gas certificate. They base the rebate on rego search and the gas certificate supplied.

shop around should be able to get it rebuilt for under $200 easy drive in out. means no car for about half the day though, take into account gas guys smoko's etc.
i wouldn't bother with a second hand unit if you do 1000k's a week, more than likely 6 months down the road it'll go caput.

Had the same problem with the same brand mixer. Got a new 1 for $180, fitted it myself hen took it back to the gas guy for the gas line to be refitted.
