Hey guys,
I'm currently removing the engine from my eb. All is well except I cannot get to the 2 top bellhousing bolts on the passenger side. I cant get a socket on them at all as there is too much sound deadening s**t in the way. I can kinda get a spanner on one of the bolts from the engine bay but I can't undo it coz I have no leverage. If anyone has any tips plz tell me coz im going to go insane. I've spend the last 4 hours trying to get these 2 fukin bolts out.

Either lower or raise the gearbox (whatever is easier for you). Put a jack under the gearbox to take the weight, undo the crossemember and lower it.
I use a socket on a uni joint followed by 2 12" extension bars. The sound deadening makes it a much harder job (might just want to cut some away).

I use 2 spanners joined together to get more leverage. You hook the closed spanner part around one of the 'tongs/arms' of the spanner attached to the bolt. It is hard to explain but if you work it out it basically joins the two spanners together doubling the force you can apply.
cheers Scott

A socket will go on (unless its deeper than average). ive had the displeasure of doing a couple of boxcars with the sounds matting and its just a matter of getting the tools at the right angle in the right place.
Never taken me hours though

thanks for the replys guys!
i decided to take off the inlet manifold so i could get better access to the bolts. They still wont budge from the engine bay however there is now more room at the back so hopefully i'll be able to use my uni joint and get my socket on that sucker!! so yeh that'll be a job for tomorrow. i had planned to get the whole engine out today but oh well - i would have if it wasnt for these 2 bastard bolts! thanks again guys

hey guys,
today i cut that s**t sound proofing out of the way which made it sooo much easier. I was able to use my uni joint and extensions to undo both bolts! so now my engine is all out and now i can stuff around modding my eb wiring harness to my au motor. once i finish putting the new motor in i'll add a new topic with pics from the install
