How do I get the bushes out of the hole in the lower control arm, the ones that are for the lower strut mount.

with the ball part of a ball pein hammer. smack it hard fast and accurate!

I think you gotta press them out. Best bet is to go to Pedders and get a new set, they have all new bushes 'n' stuff in them. Not real expensive, and a bloody sight easier to replace.

at franks place when we lowered adamN's EL we used an oxy torch hooked up to an LPG bottle...

bingo otherwise ure gonna have to get it done at a suspention shop and they charge a fair bit to press new ones in is what ive heard |

get a shop to do them cause if you damage them you will have to replace the whole wishbone.

yeh pedders are the place to go... we got an exchange arm including new ball joint for under $150 the other day

hey twr7cx
are you replacing just the shock bush or the lower inner as well? If doing the lower inner then yeah, its gotta be heated up then smacked out. Recommend taking it to suspension place unless your handy with an oxy. If doing the strut mount / radius bush only, then as i said above and use a hammer. I work at pedders and this is how we get them out... Hope this helps ya |

I'm replacing all the bushes with new nolathane ones. Ah well I'll pull the thing (arm peice) out and take it to Jimmy down the road.
So the factory bushes are pressed in, but the aftermarket Nolathane ones definately don't need to be. |

You should have got the replacement remanufactured arm. A tad more $$$, but doesnt require you to go down to a suspension shop to get bushes pushed in and out.
And I would assume at the prices you get them for, it definately would have been worth your while.

When i had to replace my front struts the actual bush was rusted to the lower strut bolt. Had to cut the lower plate on the strut to remove strute from lower control arm and then used a steel tube and G clamp to press out the old bush with the bush pushing inside the tube. Then used a G clamp again with lube to press in the new bush ($14 from Ford) then i realised we have them at work!!

Well I got a remanufactured upright.
But since the Nolathane Evo kit included all the bushes I didn't bother geting a remanufactured lower arm. The Nolathane bushes don't seem to need to be pressed in. So I'ma just take the arm down to the local yobo and get him to get them out for me - if he's a decent bloke it'll probably be f**k all and in cash!
