Hey guys i know i have asked this before but just wanted to see if this is right

My auto most of the time changes gears pretty sharp (no it doesnt have a shift kit) but between the gear change its like the car goes into neutral and the revs go up about 300 or so before it goes into the next gear

Firstly i was told on here that it is one of the solenoids but then yesterday a guy came over who has been working at ford for the past 14 years and he said my clutch plate is slipping and i will need a new tranny??

Can someone shed some more light on the situation?

If i have to change the tranny i will do it before putting the car together and may look at going manual

im not going to change to manual for the fun of it, the less hassles the better

if it is auto there ann't no clutcvh plate just a flywheel but there are "clutch points" in the auto box (i know this cause these things are f**k in my 4spedd minus overdrive)

That is exactly the same problem I had before when the tranny wanted to downshift. It feels like the tranny let go for one second then re-engage with a big thump. NAT fixed it by replacing S1, S2, and S3 solenoid. Cost me around 500 bucks.

Does it happen only when upshifting? or downshifting?

I recommend not to jump into conclusion. Try using one of those muzza's diagnostic scanner. It can help you pinpoint solenoid problems.

Thanks john_jay
It can do it both ways, when i was driving it i was trying not to accelerate too much so it wouldnt try to downshift

The car isnt drivable at the moment because im just fixing a small oil leak at the front so i just wanted to find out if i any larger problems

If its just the solenoids thats a lot better than changing the tranny
I was going to have them looked into when the car was back on the road anyway
