What would happen if I fitted a ECU calibrated for a 3.08 diff into a car with a 3.23 diff, would this make the shifts happen higher or lower in the rev range?

I can't work it out

If your ecu is for a 3.08 diff and you put it in a car with a 3.23 diff, the shifts will occur at higher rpm than they would with a 3.23 ecu.

I'd vote for higher as well.

nothign would happen at all!! shifts would be the same!!!

the ecu gets one of many signals from the spedo sender

unless u change the spedo sender gear to a 3.23 gear the shifts will be the same!

Car with 3.08 diff, 3.08 sender and 3.08 ECU shifts 1st to 2nd at 80km/h indicated (none of this is anywhere near exact, its random exampleness).
Car with 3.23 diff, 3.08 sender and 3.08 ECU STILL shifts at an INDICATED 80km/h, actual speed being 70km/h
Car with 3.23 diff, 3.08 sender and 3.32 ECU, will shift at an INDICATED 70km/h, actual speed being 60.

EDIT: just noticed you are going the other way, 3.08 ECU into car with 3.23 diff... I should read posts...
same principals apply sorta, I'll put that example in there :P

car with 3.23 diff, 3.23 sender, and 3.08 ecu, will shift at an INDICATED 80km/h, actual speed, 80kmh :P
much too late for the 3.23 diff!!!

basically, if you put your foot to the floor, it will hit the limiter.

thats where my 'mont used to change...3.23 ECU, 3.23 Diff and 3.23 Sender. now it changes at like 40/50 tho...something to do with the extra gear...and third pedal

Just to confirm, I had no issue driving around with a Tickford ECU (3.45 diff ratio) in the wagon which is factory fitted with something lower...
