Hello all.My first time on and I have a query about Pro Comp distributors.I have one on a 1992 F250 with a 5.8 Windsor.Its been a pain in the ar*e ever since it was fitted...no help from suppliers.Any ideas and thoughts please...Peter.

IMO your better off with MSD or similar.. These are Cheap Chinese MSD knockoff's...

Yes unfortunately procomp is the epitome of cheap nastiness.

I have been leaning towards MSD or similar so I might have to bite the bullet and get one....Problems are :the vacume pot broke away from its mounting bracket and is now held in place with cable ties....I cant limit the centrifical advance...at 1500 rpm it goes out to 35 degrees with the vacume line off and the motor f@rt and backfires on take off and low speed cornering....its auto and on 100% LPG...It was reasonably ok when first fitted and its less than 12 months old.....Peter.

Yes this is typical. I know of five cars that had this exact same problem.
Yours would have been EFI to start with Pete. You should have kept the EEC controlling spark through the TFI dizzy. You can do some sensor "tricks" to get the spark how you want it. Cheers, Pete. |
