hi
i just finished the bbm conversion on my ea and i have just put a k&n pod filter in the air box.. pretty easy to do aswell. i cut the plastic tube that runs from the flexable hose to the airbox so it doesnt have the narrow restrictive end and then removed the 4 bolts holding the bell mouth thing.. i used another flexable hose to join it to a piece of 3" pipe that runs through the air box lid and just attached the pod filter ... normally i would use a k&n panel filter but i had this pod from my old xr8 so i thought it was just as good.. and i had bought a k&n panel filter for the ea box about 6 months ago and i dont really want to buy another one.. here are some pics

At least you've got it enclosed.

Yea without it enclosed it would be useless..
i also dont really like how the factory pipe from the airbox to the flex hose is so restrictive at the airbox end.. i suppose ford have there reasons for it.. the good thing is that i have the original pipe and bellmouth just incase i want to put it back to original... |

you need to put a 45 degree bend in the pipe into the airbox.
The airbox lid is cutting alot off flow from the top half off the pod filter the way you have done it. The mounting position is very similar too Lukey's install where he used the existing bell mouth from an EF lid adaptor. Also ribbed air pipe is crap for air flow aswell.......compared too mandrel bent 45 degree 3in pipe. But i would say you know what your doing and it is just a temp install with the BBM until you get some good pipework for the intake & pod filter. cheers...
