Seriously...what's the biggest cube motor that will fit in a e series engine bay without major mods? Just for curiosity's sake?

351W with 420+ cube stroker.
Bolt straight onto to 302W mounts, and easily fit between the towers.
May need a hole in the bonnet though depending on what intake manifold you run.

If you don't want to modify the bonnet, a 371 will fit. Same as a 302 being 8.2" tall.

Does it have to be a Windsor?

Have an EA at moment and would like to put small 90degree (Clev?) V8 into it if possible.

It's just that the windsors fairly well suck unless modded like XR8 and for that sort of money (extremely broke pensioner) I'll give it a miss.

Unless there is a Sugar Daddy out there with one to spare .. hehe :D

351clevo or windsor is the nicest fitting motor that would fit but in the whole scheme of things, it depends on how much money as wat can fit...my mate who i work with has a big block 7.4 liter 454 chev under the bonnet (and through the bonnet lol) of his EF.Hes a damn bloody good mechanic tho!!!

well...ive been dreaming for ages of building a big cube n/a injected motor for cruising, a few burnouts etc... i was planning along the lines of a 347w but if i can start with a 351w and stroke it...then maybe a snail or two...again, hypothetical at the moment, but i've got holidays coming up and some cash in the bank, i could make a start...so if i was to go a 351w, what stroker kit is recommended?

The Man-o-war 460ci windsor is based on the 9.5" deck block(same as stock 351w).
You can also fit an FE(10.17" deck) or 400C(10.3" deck) or 385 series(10.3" deck) bigblock. 385 series(429/460) can be had out to more than 600ci. Bonnet clearance is a problem with these engines(if you care) otherwise there is plenty of room for them.
You could also fit the 6.8 V10(10.07" deck) with similar bonnet clearance problems.

Pete.
