Hey im getting my disc machined tomorrow and im taking them off myself to save some money. The wheel bearings have to come out because its an el and i have to regrease them when im puting the disc back in. Do i just put heaps of grease on the bearings and inside of the whole thing? I cant remember how my dad showed me how to do it. Also should i remove the old grease?

hey dude,
put heaps of grease all around the bearings. the best way to put grease into bearings is to put grease in hand and roll the bearing into your palm.

Give it a wash in some petrol etc, make sure it doesnt feel loose, grinds or have score marks on the rollers etc, then , as was said, work the grease into the cage, for a good 5 mins at least.

ok thanks guys. One more quetions. What grease should i use. Just buy some grease from supercheap?

Just read the descriptions of the grease, they'll say what there purposes are for, e.g. constant velocity joints, wheel bearings, uni joints, what ever, marine. |

also, if you buying grease, it may just be worth gettin some new bearings.

too much grease is just as bad as not enuff so becareful

I replaced the bearing last year. I remeber cause i was about to take my car to barthurst last year.
How would i know its too much grease. So i just use enough grease to do the whole lot. Basicly cover the bearings n add a little bit more.

dont you need a press to replace the rear bearings as they are located on the shaft?

just pack the bearings well, really well.
then a thin smear over the bearing and the mating surface of the disc. that is all that is required. remember new hub seals on the discs. grease to use, high temperature bearing, choose the company you like they all make one.

Not if you have special tool number 567, peice of pipe O/D same as bearing inner. |

lol...so they arent on there too tight then? They can be bashed of with pipe?
