I was wondering if it is possible to connect an aftermarket dvd unit (player and screen) and have it connected to the original car speakers? If so is it something that must be sone by a pro or can it be a pretty simple DIY job. The car I am thinkin of installin the aftermarket unit in is an EL Fairmont Ghia and the head unit i am considering buyin is a Kenwood DDX 6039 (http://www.kenwoodaudio.com/australia/p ... el=DDX6039)

Yes you can connect all the original speakers to this headunit. Same as if it was a normal deck.

will work fine and can be done yourself in about 2hrs, with all connections soldered properly.

Alternatively buy a wiring harness adaptor.
Best $20 you ever spend.

Dont forget the rears and sub run off an amp which the gains and frequencies are non adjustable on the factory amp. You will have to fit RCA's to the existing loom or run new RCA's to the amp (3 channels)

As you might already know, wiring harness's can be bought from any quality audio places and some not so quality places....sometimes also pop up on ebay.
